7. Du bist Student. (Why no 'ein' here?) (You are a student.)
No article is used when denoting professions (Ich bin Arzt), nationality (Er ist Deutscher) or a 'type' of person in general, such as a child (Als ich Kind war,...) . These usually follow the verbs sein, bleiben or werden.
However, if an adjective is used, then you do need the article -- Er ist ein beruhmter Arzt, Sie ist eine alte Deutsche, Als ich ein junges Kind war...
