Hi there, my name's Matt Seng. I just got the bug to brush up on my German skills and a short Google search led me here.

I took four years of German in highschool and have a decent understanding of grammar, but it's been quite a while since then and I'm quite rusty. I'm chiefly interested in expanding my vocabulary and being able to speak more fluently and instantaneously. It's kind of frustrating remembering as much of the language as I do, yet not being able to use it functionally, so... here I am. I'll try to demonstrate my current knowledge and vocabulary, or lack thereof, by attempting to translate everything I've said thus far below, without referencing any external vocabulary or grammar resources. Any corrections or suggestions are totally welcome!

Auf der Oberschule hatte ich vier Jahre lang Deutsch, und ich habe eine anständige Vorstellung von Grammatik, aber das ist bereits eine ganze Weile her, und die Kenntnisse sind schon etwas eingerostet. Hauptsächlich bin ich daran interessiert, mein Vokabularium zu erweitern und flüssiger und spontaner zu sprechen. Es ist schon etwas frustrierend, so viel Erinnerung an die Sprache zu haben wie ich, und dennoch nicht in der Lage zu sein, sie zweckmäßig anzuwenden, deshalb ... bin ich hier. Ich will meine momentanen Kenntnisse und mein Vokabularium oder deren Mangel demonstrieren, indem ich weiter unten alles bisher Gesagte zu übersetzen versuche, ohne auf einen externen Wortschatz oder Grammatikressourcen zurückzugreifen. Jedwede Korrekturen und Anregungen sind hochwillkommen!
