SEIN - Present Tense • Präsens
to be
The verb SEIN is very irregular. Like its English cousin "to be," the forms of the German verb (particularly in the present tense) must be memorized, since it does not follow any predictable pattern.
DEUTSCH ENGLISH
  SINGULAR FORMS
  ich bin   I am
  du bist   you are
  er
  sie ist
  es
  he
  she is
  it
  PLURAL FORMS
  wir sind   we are
  ihr seid   you (guys) are
  sie sind   they are
  Sie sind   you are
Examples:
Ich bin dreizehn Jahre alt. - I'm thirteen years old.
Mein Mann ist in heute in Berlin. - My husband is in Berlin today.
Sind Sie Herr Meier? - Are you Mr. Meier?
Sie ist nicht da. - She's not here.
