That was no longer acceptable.

Right away for me it was
an answering machine.
And then when I came home,
I was overcome with happiness and joy.
Merrily blinking at me, the machine said
that someone had called.
The sweet voice of a woman
betrays me and says:
“Forgive me, my dear sir,
I dialed the wrong number.”
