About this Song:
“Die Siezgelegenheit” is from the teilzeithippie album. The text has to do with the fact that in German (and most other languages besides English) there are two basic forms of “you” — the formal Sie and the familiar du (which is related to old English “thou”). The verb siezen means to address someone with the formal Sie. Duzen is to use the familar du. Many young people in Germany today, especially among themselves, use the familiar “you” much more than was the case a few generations ago. This song reflects this trend while the singer marvels at the uniqueness of someone being more formal and polite, as in the good old days. The music has an old-time sound to it as well.
