   to draw to an end/close; become exhausted, dwindle, run down/dry/out

Wenn die Batterie während einer längeren Fahrt zur Neige geht, springt ein benzinbetriebener Generator an und lädt sie unterwegs auf.
When the battery runs down during a long trip, a gasoline-powered generator kicks in and charges it while driving.
