   lasting, enduring; sustainable (ecol./econ.); not to be soon forgotten; persistently

Dänemark hätte auf dem Gipfel gern die Weltrettung verkünden wollen, für immer verknüpft mit dem Namen Kopenhagen. Stattdessen aber wird die dänische Hauptstadt nun als Chiffre dafür stehen, dass die Welt beim Klimaschutz nachhaltig versagt hat.
Denmark would have liked to announce at the summit that the world was saved – and have that forever associated with Copenhagen’s name. But now the Danish capital is a symbol of the fact that the world has failed, and continues to fail, in climate protection.
Nachhaltig dürfte der Ölpreisanstieg allerdings nicht sein.
The rise in oil prices really isn’t sustainable.
