Ich bin seit vielen Jahren eine Karteileiche der CDU.
For many years I have been an inactive member of the CDU.
Auch der Begriff der Karteileiche erhält eine völlig neue Bedeutung. "Es gibt Fälle, wo Mitglieder längst verstorben, aber nicht aus den Bestandslisten gestrichen wurden", sagte Voß der SZ.
The concept of the Karteileiche ("file corpse") also takes on an entirely new meaning. "There are cases where members were long deceased, but not deleted from the registration lists," Voss told the SZ [newspaper].
Volkszählung: Experten vermuten in Deutschland mehr als eine Million Karteileichen.
Census: Experts suspect more than a million people in Germany who exist only on paper/in the files.
