der Radau (no pl.)
   din, racket, row (loud noise), commotion
(Radau is also a place name, a German surname and the name of a river in Germany.)

Vor allem im Sommerhalbjahr spiele sich der nächtliche Radau im vorderen Bereich bei den Tischtennisplatten ab.
Especially in the warm half of the year, the nightly racket is said to happen in the front part [of the school yard] near the ping-pong tables.
Sarrazin hielt sich überraschend zurück – vielleicht, weil der Radau auch für ihn zu viel war.
