Die Blumen riechen gut.
The flowers smell good.
Es riecht nach Benzin.
It smells like gasoline.
Er hat Lunte gerochen.
He smelled a rat. (die Lunte = fuse [for explosives])
Nicht nur, dass die Flecken übel riechen, sie sehen auch
unschön aus.
Not only do the spots smell bad, they also look unattractive.
