Note: The sample sentence above is from a Swiss newspaper (NZZ). Standard German for the first three words would be wegen schlechten Wetters. In Swiss German wegen is a dative preposition, whereas in standard German it is a genitive preposition. However, in reality, many German speakers in all the German-speaking countries treat wegen as a dative preposition in everyday speech.
