   to be absent; stay away, fail to appear/materialize; be overdue; stop, cease to function; stay out (not go home)

Weil Geschäftsreisende ausbleiben, Kongresse abgesagt oder kleiner abgehalten werden, mussten die ersten Fünf-Sterne-Hotels Personal abbauen.
Because business travelers are staying away, conventions are being canceled or reduced in size, the first five-star hotels have had to cut personnel.
