As we mentioned in DVDs - Part 1, movies in German are an enjoyable way to learn the German language. But the special 40th anniversary edition German DVD (2 discs) offers a special treat! One of the options on disc one is to view the film with karaoke subtitles for all the Rodgers and Hammerstein songs - in German or English! The German 2005 special edition DVD even includes a booklet with the German lyrics.

German and English Lyrics for 'Sound of Music' Songs

The 2005 DVD, issued to celebrate the film’s 40th birthday, comes in a metal case and has many special features, including two different audio commentaries and an interview that reunites the grown-ups who played the von Trapp children in 1965. The German DVD offers both the original English and the German-dubbed soundtracks, plus Turkish subtitles.
